About

Tim Hill is a photographer, website design and content manager, and marketing consultant, supporting the development of promotional brochures, newsletters, other collaterals, and websites. He has worked with Robin Murray of RM Strategic Marketing since 2003 and Carmen Yazejian of Network9 since 2006.

He has been an opera singer and photographer for over twenty years, and his clients have included Fortune 100 companies. He received a BA in Music from Elon University in North Carolina, an MA in Music from the University of Iowa, and continuing professional studies at the Mannes College of Music in New York City.

Since in New York City, he has taught at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Drama Department’s program at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and the Actors Studio Drama School (now called the New School for Drama), while working on several marketing, publicity, and website projects with RM Strategic Marketing and Network9. Tim studied photography at the New School and Photo Manhattan. He also apprenticed with Dara Blakeley Photography. Singing and photography are now Tim’s life work.

fun facts about tim:
1974 - tim decides he wants to be johnny cash when he grows up.
1976 – tim gets his first camera. it is a kodak instamatic x15f (think a little point and shoot camera with a disposable flash bar).  tim immediately began terrorizing the family pets by making them pose in his mother’s flower garden. while “at work” he destroyed many flowers and took hundreds of photos of the pets, flowers and the family, which his parents were obliged to print and save.
1978 – tim joins the school choir
1981 – purchased a canon ae 1 with money saved from his work on the family farm picking peaches, apples, and feeding the cows. with this camera, he continued the animal portrait theme by taking his canon on it’s first outing to the north carolina zoo. over the years, tim took thousands of flower and pet photos and quickly became the family’s in-house photographer.
at age of 12, he took a 4-H photography course.
1982 – tim joins the school band and continues singing in the choir.   he begins to develop a taste for classical music.
1987 – tim packs his camera and his music and moves to burlington, nc to attend elon university as a music major.
1991 – tim packs his camera and his music, yet again to go get a master’s degree in voice from the university of iowa (there’s a long story).
1993 – tim moves back to north carolina, and teaches music at north carolina wesleyan college and university of north carolina at chapel hill.
1994 – tim met and became best friends with dara — a fabulous photographer, and tim’s mentor, who taught him dark room technique and reignited his love for photography. (see her amazing work at www.darablakeley.com)
1997 – tim moves to new york city to pursue his opera career.
2002 – tim began taking photography classes at the new school in new york city.
2003 – tim made the switch to nikon cameras by buying a nikon f5 (the switch was influenced by dara and other photogrpaher friends he had met through her).
2003 – tim had actors and singers asking him to do their headshots and publicity photos.
tim now shoots digital and continues to sing. he has made these two little childhood hobbies his life’s work.
